Shawnee Mission Northwest Thespian Troupe #888 Theatre

  • Overall Record: N/A
  • Conference Record: N/A

The Theatre department at Northwest, registered in the International Thespian Society as Thespian Troupe #888, is as old as the school itself. Over the years, hundreds of students have been inducted into the Troupe, reciting a theatre artist's pledge upon a dim, candlelit stage in the school's Parker Auditorium.

Troupe members are not the only ones who can work on productions. Mainstage shows are open to the entire school. The department normally produces three mainstage shows: a winter musical, a fall drama or comedy, and a spring drama or comedy. There are also two student-directed lab plays in the fall and spring which allow students the opportunity to flex their production skills more independently and explore student-written or more experimental literature.  The Repertory Theatre class produces several productions throughout year, including original one acts, and a TYA (Theatre for Young Audiences) production.
