Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Cougars Win Championship of Black & Gold Classic

Macce Emery was around the goal all night and had good fortune earning a hat trick.

The SMNW Lady Cougars soccer team, behind some high power offense won the Black & Gold Classic, hosted by Turner High School, with a 7-0 shutout victory over Sunflower League foe Shawnee Mission North.

The Lady Cougars tallied their first goal with 28:28 remaining in the half when Macce Emery, sophomore, found the back of the net for the first of her three goals.

Samantha Lockett gave the Lady Cougars a 2-0 with just over four minutes remaining in the half, and SMNW took that lead into the locker room.

Emery netted her second goal to up the Lady Cougar lead to 3-0 and then the flood gates opened with Maya Wallace scoring the next two goals to give SMNW a 5-0 lead.  Emery got her hat trick with the third Lady Cougar goal, while Chesny Srrioz-McKinney, another sophomore sensation, rounded out the SMNW scoring.  Olivia Sexton earned the shutout this evening, on limited shot attempt by Shawnee Mission North.

For the Lady Cougars, now 3-0-1 in the first quarter of their season, swing back into action on Tuesday as they begin Sunflower League action vs the Trailblazer at Gardner.  JV is scheduled to kick at 5 p.m. with Varsity scheduled to follow at 7 p.m.
