Girls Varsity Soccer · Lady Cougars in Finals of Black and Gold Classic


After an opening season SFL tie with Olathe NW the Lady Cougars soccer program have won the first two rounds of the Black and Gold Classic, hosted by Turner to reach the finals.

SMNW opened the Black and Gold Classic with an onslaught of goals, finding the net 13 times vs Bishop Ward to defeat the Cyclones 13-0.

In the semifinals the Lady Cougars kept up the high-powered offensive attack vs Bonner Springs and defeated the Braves 13-3.  SMNW had seven different girls find the back of the net led by DJ Jackson who hat the hat trick, and Mya Wallace, Sophia Hughes and Lauren Sanders, who all collected two goals each.  Olivia Sexton, who has been tremendous in all three games in the net for the Lady Cougars, had another outstanding game.

SMNW will play sister school SMN for the Black and Gold title game.  The game is scheduled for this evening, at 7:00 p.m. at the new Turner District Athletic Complex, West Field.
