Boys C Team Baseball, Boys Junior Varsity Baseball · JV Baseball sweeps Free State as CTeam earns a split

Your JV baseball team swept the Firebirds of Free State in a double header last night.  In game one, the Cougars took a commanding lead by scoring 8 in their half of the first inning and they never looked back going on to win 12-9.  The offense was led by Jake Congrove, Drew Martz, Adam Sakati, and Luis Camuenz who all had multiple hits.  They also ran wild on the bases with 5 stolen bags.  During the night cap, the Cougars continued to be red hot scoring 2 in their half of the first and leading 7-3 after 4 and ending the game 14-3.  Congrove and Caleb Shelby held the Firebirds in check offensively.  Sakati gave the offense a spark by driving in 4 runs.  These wins bring the JV record to 2-0.

The CTeam earned a split winning game one 11-8 but losing the night cap 3-11.  Game one was a display of power as Jaxson Cowan starts the season off in fashion (Ricky Henderson style), an opposite field lead off homerun.  In the 4th inning Cameron Kelly used a little muscle of his own as he hit a moon shot over the right center fence for a GRAND SLAM!  Griffin Nusbaum pitched 3 and 2/3 innings giving up no runs on 2 strike outs and 2 walks.  The night cap did not fare so well for the Cougars.  They took the lead in the first as Brayden Frazier singled home Cowan and then scored on a wild pitch.  The Firebirds came right back with big innings in the 4th and 5th.  The Cougars scraped all night, but fell short.  Their season record currently stands at 1-1.

Both teams will be back in action March 31st versus the Raiders of SMSouth.  The games will be played at the 3&2 complex, fields 2 and 7.  First pitch is to be at 4:15pm.
