Girls Varsity Basketball · Lady Cougar Basketball Grinds Out Summer

August 17th – It certainly has been a different time for our country and world.  It hasn’t been any different for our Lady Cougar Basketball Team.  We knew this summer was going to be an up and down roller coaster ride.  As coaches, we set out to create a plan to get the most out of our summer workouts.  It all started in May.  We adopted the mantra “Win the Wait”.  It is something that has stayed with us throughout our training and will continue to stay with us throughout the year.

We started the summer needing to complete 10 days of basketball conditioning.  We went outside the first week, then went into Inside 68 Sports Facility for basketball specific conditioning.  We were just starting to find our groove on the basketball floor, then more complications due to Covid-19 forced us back outside.  We looked at several venues to continue our training and landed at Matt Taylor Park in Lenexa.  With two goals, tennis courts, and a trail, we found an area to keep working on our game.

Our girls did a great job of showing up every day.  Sometimes it would be raining, some days it we would be scorching hot, and occasionally we would get a beautiful day.  They didn’t let any outside factors affect their ability to show up and work hard.  It showed with the improvement that we gained throughout these workouts.

There are a lot of unknowns with the start of the school year, but we do know that our girls will continue to grind and WIN THE WAIT!
