Cougars News · Girls Basketball Receive Send Off to 6A State


The Lady Cougars left earlier today to compete in the first round of the 6A Kansas State Girls Basketball Championship.  SMNW, coming in with an 18-4 record and a five-seed, will take on the Panthers from Derby High School, 18-2 and seeded fourth in the first round.

SMNW is one of four Sunflower League teams that will take the court today.  Lady Cougars are scheduled to tip at 4:45 p.m. in front of a group of supportive students, parents and people throughout the community.  The team left in front of an enthusiastic crowd from the school parking lot, via police/fire escort.

Winner of today’s contest will advance to the 6A State semi-finals on Friday, which tip off at 3:00 p.m.
