Shawnee Mission Northwest Soccer dropped a hard fought game in their season opener in a road contest versus Shawnee Mission South 2-1 on Saturday.

After a scoreless first half the Cougars struck first when Ishmaiel Cisse and Axel Marquez set up Cole Slack who found the back of the net to give the Cougars a 1-0 lead.  The Raiders tied the score in the final 14 minutes of the game and then netted the game winner in the final nine minutes of the contest.  The Cougars, 0-1 on the young season continue play at the Big Cat Classic, which begins Tuesday when SMNW takes on Wichita North at 4:00 p.m. at Blue Valley West.
